DIY: Tea Dyed Pom Poms from LilyShop

I have been exploring more youtube videos lately. I really like that I can watch them on my big Tv through xbox. You can subscribe to channels and they suggest videos based on what you have previously watched which is pretty cool. Youtube has definitely stepped it up a notch. I searched for "craft ideas" and most of them were pretty bad but I did find this one and thought it was oh so lovely. When I get the time I want to definitely make these. Perfect for a wedding or any other type of beautiful event. Have you made these before? Do you plan on making something like this?

Freshening Up the Blog

I have taken a little break from blogging here lately and now I am ready to start going at it again. Firstly I need your help though. I want to put together weekly posts to try to get me back in the habit. I would like to focus more on the pretty images I find around the internet especially on etsy, society6, pinterest and my favorite blogs etc. I have been researching ideas on what sort of posts people like (thank you about.com!) and these are the topics I have come up with that I am considering. Please take a minute to vote below. If you have any other suggestions please leave a comment. Thank you!

Create Pinnable Photos for Pinterest

I have been pinning since pinterest began and I have learned a lot about what makes a good photo repinnable. Here are some of my tips!
  1. Vertical – not too tall though
  2. High Quality – Blur the background with the flower setting on your camera if its close up
  3. Good Lighting
  4. No frames around images
  5. No white space background - Place item in a nice simple yet interesting backdrop i.e wood, concrete, fabric etc.
  6. Product should fill up the vertical image more than 50%
  7. Show only one item at a time
  8. Vivid color but not too bright
  9. If there is a model they shouldn’t make bad poses (ie unhappy, stuck up, overdone etc) Should be natural
  10. Photos should feel natural – not commercialized
  11. Style the product in a clean way – make the item you are selling the focal point
Note: This is not a guarantee way of getting your products pinnable but it is definitely a good start!

Here are some examples of great pinnable products!

Chair: Pink Pianos
Necklace: Botanical Bird

Featuring: Alice Closet

This lovely shop is owned and designed by Alice. She hand makes all of her apparel in her adorable studio in Venice, Italy! I am loving the vintage and romantic style of her items. Just a little jealous she gets to design pretty things in Italy. :) You can check out more of her items on her etsy site HERE>>
